Advanced
Analysis using ArcGIS Desktop
(three days Nov. 15th-16th, 19th) |
| Use
the advanced tools in ArcGIS 9.0 for
geoprocessing, modeling and analysis to
find answers to problems in interesting
and challenging real world scenarios.
This course examines different modeling
techniques for spatial analysis and
participants will determine the best
process and tools to use to complete a
task. Project based exercises will draw
from a range of GIS applications that
participants can easily relate to their
own projects and workflows. The majority

Managing
GIS Implementation: URISA
(one day, Nov. 16th) |
| This
workshop describes tasks and issues that
program managers must address at
different stages of geographic
information systems (GIS) development.
Topics include strategic planning, work
program development, project management
techniques, budgeting, staffing,
sustaining program support, and managing
consultants and vendors. This workshop
presents an overview of successful and
unsuccessful techniques for implementing
GIS. Seven keys to a successful
organization-wide GIS will be analyzed.
How to gain organizational support and
how to revive floundering GIS programs
will be considered. A variety of real
world examples will be presented.
Managing GIS Implementation is a must
for anyone embarking upon a GIS project,
involved with a less-than-successful
GIS, or who is seeking ways to improve a
successful implementation.
