The objective of this workshop is to apply the experience, discipline, and future direction of the Information Systems (IS) profession to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  The workshop covers information technology topics such as enterprise information architecture, hardware and network concepts, open systems and standards, client server, data integration, data warehouse, and telecommunications.  It also covers organizational issues such as technical support, version control, project management and team building.  The workshop will provide GIS professionals with an understanding of some of the complex technical and managerial issues that must be addressed when developing a corporate GIS.

Instructors: 
Michael Lovett
:  Mr. Lovett has over 34 years of public and private sector experience in information management systems (IMS) for geographic information systems ( GIS ), land surveying, aerial photography, photogrammetry, and engineering.  He was a team member on the first AM/FM project conducted within the United States Mr. Lovett's management of digital mapping and AM/FM/GIS conversion activities has involved both domestic and international projects on numerous platforms. 
Mr. Lovett is currently the senior information management consultant in the southeastern
United States for Camp Dresser & McKee Inc.  Mr. Lovett has provided advice and leadership to over 30 major data conversion projects.  He provides consulting services for strategic information plans, information systems integration, GIS integration with other information systems, database design, web-based applications, and GIS implementations.

Lee Hartsfield:  Mr. Hartsfield has over 11 years of government service with an additional 20 years in construction management and surveying.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Geography and a Master Degree of Science in Geography from Florida State University .
He is currently serving as the Tallahassee-Leon County GIS Coordinator, where he has been exposed to many of the issues discussed in the workshop.  He is a trained quality facilitator and has coordinated a variety of collaborative GIS efforts which have received national recognition (2003 ESIG Award , 2002 ACEC Award).
