SHRUG is an alliance
of multidisciplinary GIS professionals and users focused in the Tallahassee regional area to promote and support the use of GIS. Membership includes staff from consulting firms, educational institutions, all levels of governing agencies, hardware/software vendors, and non-profit organizations.
SHRUG meets quarterly at a revolving location to address such issues as data sharing, training needs, and an assortment of industry-focused, technical topics. Meeting locations rotate to provide local users the opportunity to visit each other's GIS shops, at the same time giving the host an excuse to "show off" and demo their talent in an open house setting. SHRUG has met nearly every quarter since its first meeting in April of 1999.
